Can Eduardo Restaurant reopened after a complete refurbishment. The restaurant was originally inaugurated in 1943 and over the years, was well known in Palma as the best fish and seafood restaurant in the area. Can Eduardo, ideally located above the Palma fish market, has been beautifully modernised in order to offer an updated image to all its clientele but has maintained its traditional fresh fish and seafood cuisine. All the fish is bought at the fish market underneath the restaurant and is prepared in a simple and healthy way so as not to interfere with all its natural flavour.
Wide windows have been installed which allow for some of the best views of the Cathedral and the bay of Palma. At night the view is spectacular and can be enjoyed both from the air conditioned dining room and the outside terrace. The Esteban-Romera family has run this hugely popular restaurant on the island since Pedro Esteban opened the first Can Pedro in 1976. Before long, it became well-known for its speciality in 'pa amb oli' (a local dish of bread with tomato and olive oil topped with various cheeses and cold meats) and the traditional snails. Later it became popular for serving typical Mallorcan cuisine and grilled meats.
In 1991 the new and spacious Meson Can Pedro II was opened keeping to the same style as the original restaurant, but with a few additions to the menu like the fresh fish, roasts, variety of cod, Iberian ham, variety of meats, etc. All can be accompanied with a Spanish or Mallorcan wine from the extensive list.

At the beginning of 2009, two surfer friends decided to launch a restaurant in Santa Catalina, in the heart of the gastronomic center of Palma de Mallorca.
One of the owners, Juanjo Campos explains: 'Duke restaurant is different from other places because of the type of cuisine, which is healthy, natural and has very short cooking times. It's based on recipes we discovered during our travels to different parts of the world to which our chef Ronny adds his very personal touch, resulting in very tasty dishes! We take the best of what we've found, and we don't mix it, so in other words this is not a fusion cuisine, but more a multi- or cross-cultural cuisine.'
The name of the restaurant was inspired by the the great Hawaiian surfer Duke Paoa Kahanamoku who is known around the world as the 'Father of Modern Surf'. Born in 1890 in Honolulu, he became a swimming champion, winning gold and silver medals at the 1912, 1920 and 1924 Olympic Games. In 1914, he traveled to Australia for a surfing exhibition, thereby sowing the seeds of what would, in the 1950s and 60s become a hugely popular sport across the world.
At Duke Restaurant in Santa Catalina you'll find interesting dishes prepared by the international team of cooks always with fresh products, at reasonable prices and an informal, relaxed setting, decorated in a real surfer style. The only thing missing are the waves.

Bens d'Avall Restaurant
Benet Vicens was only eight years old when his parents opened up Bens d'Avall restaurant in 1971 in one of the loveliest locations on Mallorca: Alconàsser. He started helping out in the kitchen at the age of 10, and at 19 began studying the Hotel and Catering business in Palma. He soon became involved in the family business and developed a deep love and aptitude for gastronomy.
After his studies, and many trips back to France (his mother's native country) Benet felt motivated to create a new cuisine on the Balearic Islands that would modernise the traditional one and make full use of the rich variety of local, fresh, quality products.
The result over the years is a recognisable, delicious and unique cuisine with clean, distinctive, well-known flavours and aromas. Nowadays, Benet and his wife Cati run the restaurant along with their team, and Benet also offers his services as a consultant.
In 2011 Bens d'Avall celebrated its 40th anniversary.
